PJ the Showman - Risk Assessment update February 2021

As well as the Terms & Conditions set out in all booking contracts, the following is worth noting.

PJ the Showman / Children's & Family Entertainer is not qualified to provide a detailed risk assesment, so the below is informal information.

1) All electronic equipment is annually Portabe Appliance Tested (PAT)

2) PJ the Showman is a member or Equity under the name,Pete PJ Goldsmith. Equity is a trade union for Entertainers in the Light Entertainment Industry. Membership includes many benefits including Legal advice, Tax advice, Pension Advice and most importantly, Ten Million Public liability. Certificate availble on request.

3) DBS. Entertainers, by law are not required to hold a DBS, however as a gesture of goodwill, Schools and Event Companies may ask to view (not take a copy) of any DBS Pete PJ Goldsmith, may hold. 

4) Public Events. The stage area must be supervised by at least two stewards at all times. Generators that connect any of the artists Sound Systems or such like must be closed off and tamper proof by the booker. The artist is not responsible for the stage area and a stage manager must be employed. In the event there is no stage manager a member of the booking mananagement must assess the performing area/stage prior performance. The booker/management is responsible for the safety of the artist and their belongings/ equitment/ props. Where the artist is providing Sound & Lighting, all safegauards are assured. Wires will be taped down, electric sources will be supervised at all times. The artist may invite members of the public to join activities on the Stage. Any steps must be secured by the booker and supervised by the booker. No fire or pyrotechnics are used. Activities by the public will be Card shuffling, speaking parts or holding foam/wooden/paper props for no more than 3 minutes at any one time. The artist is not responsible for the structure of the perforing area or the surroundings. The booker is required to provide a minimum of 8kw generator at all times if no mains power is supplied. The artist requires no more than two 13amp secure sockets.

School events. see above

5) The artist will assure the performing area is kept as tidy as possible.

6) The artist will never ask a member of the audience to hold or touch anything electrical or battery operated. No Fire or pyrotechnics are used in any performance.

7) It is the parents or guardians of minors whom are responsible for allowing their minor to participate in any part of the artists performance being emotional or physical involvment. 

8) Events outside. It is not the responsibility of the performer to protect the well-being of his audience regarding weather conditions or any seating plans/surface.

9) Prizes or Giveaways. The artist may provide prizes to those over 3 years plus only. It is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian to allow the minor to use or consume the item given as a prize. 

10) In any event, it is the bookers responsibilty to control the crowd/ausience.

11) PJ the showman will always wear/use PPI where needed, except during a performance.
